Kate & Michael travelled from Melbourne to Mulwala to celebrate their wedding. For many years family and friends have been joining together for holidays at Mulwala and it is a very special place to them. It is also where Michael had proposed to Kate. There was such a joy in the air and such a wonderful bunch of people....... with a real zest for living...

from Aden's mum - Faye
Our family started its cancer journey back in June 2004. Aden was only six years old when he was diagnosed with (ALL) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and started a gruesome two and a half years of treatment at the Childrens Cancer Centre, Royal Childrens Hospital, Melbourne. Darci was only eight years old when overnight her brother and myself disappeared to Melbourne while she stayed with grandparents. Within weeks, Aden had lost his hair, had life threatening reactions to chemotherapy and had wasted away to skin and bone, unable to walk. Aden fought back over the next year and in 2006 we all celebrated the completion of Aden's treatment and resuming a near to normal life. In early April 2008, Darci noticed that Aden could do "tricks" with one of his eyes. As a mother, I knew in my gut the disease had returned.
Within days the doctors informed us that the Leukaemia was back, not in his bone marrow this time but in his spinal fluid. Immediately Aden begun a further three years of treatment including both chemotherapy and cranial radiation.
He is currently over half way through his treatment, approaching this experience with the strength, maturity and courage beyond his years. Our family's cancer journey has been filled with love, compassion and experiences that dreams are made of. Of course their has been much pain, anger and disappointment. We have lost friends but have had the oppurtunity to meet and befriend the most amazing people.
Through Very Special Kids we were privileged to have a photo session with the beautiful Liz. The memories she captured will be forever. Thankyou Liz
